That's me there in the gazebo breaking every rule in the book- backs are turned; I'm reading and not speaking; and we're in the gazebo rather than in front of it. Guests will be unable to see or hear this wedding, and to make matters far worse, they will have to contend with that terrible permed hair and those bows on the back of the dresses- a punishing 80's ceremony indeed. But we all have to begin somewhere, and this photo, wedding No. 1, is Tom beginning.

It will take another thousand weddings before a young, intrepid groom tugs on my sleeve and says " In our wedding Tom, we would like to face our guests."

This website is dedicated to him, and the thousands of brides and grooms who changed my life- and maybe with it your ceremony - with their courage, with their art, and with their sharing.

More so, this website is dedicated to the hundreds of couples who allowed me to use these images of their ceremonies. With their new and creative ideas, they mentored me, just as they are mentoring tens of thousands of couples worldwide, for there are thank you notes on this website from Ireland to Australia, and from Boston to California.

You are looking at version 3 of my website. The first version was posted to the Internet in 1999. Though currently about 55 pages in length this website may, in the future, expand out to several times that size. Trust me, there is far more that I have yet to share with you.

This website is intended to both attract and repel, for I truly am not attempting to work for everyone, nor will I do anything to get a couple's business. You will find no one on this website getting married in a swimming pool, or dressed as The Green Hornet and Cat Woman. Everything I do in a wedding ceremony honors and dignifies marriage. And it is those couples whom this website resonates with that I want to officiate for.

The publication Real Simple Magazine published their first ever issue on how to design and create beautiful wedding ceremonies. Myself and others were asked to be consultants to this work, and are listed in the credits section of that publication. One of their journalists had found this website. Again, I want to thank all of you who through the years showed me a better way, and rescued me from performing wedding ceremonies that were in many ways- truly black and white.
